Currently there are 7 classes in the Middle School. Middle School is also very lucky to have 6 new portable classrooms with additional office space and an extended play area.
Middle 5, 6 and 7 are implementing a new Middle Transition Program. As most of our students excel in "hands on" projects, the older students are enjoying doing exciting things, in addition to their numeracy and literacy programs, some of which include:

Middle Ballarat Camp
|
- planning and building a new garden
- industry work contract
- making lunches at school
- inter-school basket ball competitions
- community service within the school
- camps
- involvement with Land Care Australia
Middle 1, 2, 3 and 4 also have lots of challenging programs which they will be doing throughout the year. Some of these include:
- Two night camp to Anglesea
- Regular "Out and About" in the local community
- Shopping programs
- Dance and drama
- Bike education
- Gardening
The Middle School Curriculum follows the Victorian Essential Learning Standards which encompass the following learning areas:
Discipline -based learning
covers:
- English (Reading, Writing, Speaking and listening)
- Mathematics - number, space, measurement and chance and data.
- Humanities- lower middles will be doing Commonwealth
games, different cultures, recycling and natural disasters.
The Transition groups will be developing prevocational
skills.
- Science - The human body, mini beasts, planets and flight.
- Art - which is taken as a specialist class.
- Music
Physical, Personal and
Social Learning strand covers:
- Physical Education
- Home Economics
- Personal development
- Grooming
Interdisciplinary Learning
strand covers:
- Wood work ( Transition group)
- Computers
Specialist Programs.
As well as the classroom programs, your child attends specialist classes. Some specialist classes operate for a full year whilst others take place on a semester basis. They include:
- Home Economics
- Art
- Technology - Materials
- Technology - Information / Computer
- Physical Education
- Music
- Bike Education and Horticulture
All Middle School students participate in "Huff and Puff" for 3 mornings a week and students also have the opportunity to do athletics two mornings a week.
Students will also have the opportunity to join the "Naranga Singers" later this year. This involves weekly practice, the opportunity to participate in community events and culminates in a performance at the very popular "Naranga School Concert"
