The Primary School consists of approximately 50 students who have been divided into 8 classes. Each class is made up of students of similar ages and every effort is made to maintain the primary classes and no more than 10 students per class
In addition to teaching staff the primary school has teacher aides to work with the students and provide additional support as well as specialist staff in the following programs:
Art, Information Technology, Physical Education, Library and Home Economics
Excursions are arranged to provide experiences to make learning more meaningful
for our students. They are an important part of our
work in speaking and listening, reading and writing
about current topics. We encourage communication between

home and school. This can be done through phone calls,
visits or through the use of the communication book.
Each child has been given a communication book to be
used each day if needed. Make sure your child brings
it to school each day. Classroom teachers will use this
book to write any messages to you and to distribute
notices. You may use the book to ask any questions you
may have or to inform us if you think there is anything
we may need to know about your child.
Camps are important educational experiences. While your child is at Naranga they will participate in a range of camping activities and experiences that will:
- Provide new experiences
- Create positive attitudes
- Foster self-esteem and independence
- Build confidence and knowledge
- Develop new skills
Camps undertaken in the Primary school will be for 1 night. Primary 1 will have an extended stay when Primary 2/3 have a sleep-over at school. Primary 4/5/6/7and 8 spend the night at an accredited camp.
We aim to create an environment in our school where our students feel happy, accepted, at ease, able to learn and enjoy their learning. We encourage socially appropriate behaviour and aim to ensure students are responsible for their own actions. We encourage them to make appropriate choices whilst being aware of the rights of others.

Parents can take an active part in helping the school by ensuring that on school nights your child has adequate rest and eats breakfast before coming to school. It is essential to supply a nourishing lunch and fruit for playlunch. Children become hungry when taking part in lots of activities.
The school psychologist, is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays by appointment.
Parents and friends are encouraged to join in our "V Club" and become volunteers at Naranga. If you would like to hear more about the program and become involved please contact the school. The school will be able to discuss the range of activities that would appreciate your involvement.
The opportunity to meet other parents over a cup of tea or coffee in the Staff Room is available each Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to 10.15am.
Parents make the world of difference to student learning.
