Emphasis is placed on prevention of problem behaviour, development of pro-social skills, and the use of data-based problem solving for addressing existing behaviour concerns.
The system is designed to promote positive behaviours in all students in the school and increasingly individualize support for some students who may need additional specialized support.
Naranga is dedicated to creating a positive school environment through the following evidence-based S-WPBS strategies:
A matrix of expectations for all areas of the school
Explicit teaching of expectations
Designing proactive strategies for supporting appropriate behaviours
Modelling and reinforcing positive behaviours
Individualizing support those students who need extra help
Using a team approach to maximize consistency and predictability
OUR FOUR EXPECTATIONS:
BE SAFE
BE RESPECTFUL
BE RESPONSIBLE BE A LEARNER
OUR LOGOS: Our expectation logos were designed by our students alongside a professional graphic designer. Students were given inspiration of a shape and a line (dotted lines and circles etc). When staff and students separately were asked what a good theme could be for our logos, they both suggested the four elements - Earth, Fire, Wind and Water. The students then designed their own individual templates. These were all sent to the graphic designer. He finalised the designed as they are today. These logos are also the name of our school 'House Groups'.

EACH LOGO HAS A STORY:
SAFE: A strong symbol to get your attention with people standing united
RESPECTFUL: A soft gesture bringing care to others or an eye to show awareness of others
RESPONSIBLE: The gathering of a community, structured and clear LEARNER: A vortex channelling in towards the learner and out as we continue to grow
EXPECTED BEHAVIOURS: Naranga has created a matrix of all behavioural expectations for all classroom and non-classroom areas of the school. The matrix is intended to describe what the expectations look like, sound like and feel like. This creates as much consistency and predictability as possible.
